Debunking Discipline

 Look around now a days...

Capitalism has sold you a disciplined and routined life as something worthy of, whereas discipline is disguised modern slavery. They ask you to keep working, keep being productive even when your mind and body signals you to give up, they want to extract last drop of your soul and keep you working/productive till your last breath. The funny thing is they convinced you that it's good, it's better for you. They want you to be enslaved and chained in the garb of being disciplined and being productive. Productivity is for slaves. A monotonous routine life is what brings you on the verge of nervous breakdown and mental collapse. It happens because humans are not meant for a routined life. A disciplined life asks you to eat at a certain time, sleep at a fixed time, work for fixed number of hours, and keep doing these repeatedly on loop for years. Imagine what will it do to your soul and mind. It eventually extracts the life out of you and you just remains a productive machine at the end of your life. Human mind lives on curiosity and wilderness, human soul lives on exploration and love.

You are not made for discipline, you are made for wilderness. Have you ever gone obsessed and mad at something where you forget everything? Have you loved enough? Have you ever gone bed rotting for weeks? If not, your routine life hasn't left you to explore wilderness, the stretch of human madness. There is no life in a disciplined life, there is just slavery disguised as productivity and growth. What's the point of whole growth if you are not enjoying the growth? May be we are not meant for a stable disciplined life and maybe, just maybe, we were meant to experience all the corners of human mind, human emotions. Maybe the purpose is to experience depression as you love experiencing happiness, to experience chaos and uncertainty as you love experiencing stability and peace. Maybe life is meant to experience all the spectrums of human emotions and not just the positive growth oriented ones. What else is knowing thyself if not experiencing all the stretches of one's own mind and soul? And it is not possible if you keep on with your disciplined life.

What does your disciplined life gives you at the end? Some money, some respect, some recognition, and for some, their legacy. What would happens if you don't get them enough, what would happen if it's just enough for a good life. The end goal of success which includes a lot of wealth and fame is often attained through a disciplined life as a means. This is the story they sold you. And it might be true to some extent, but what if you don't achieve it but rather experience the stretches of all human existence. And mind you, all greatness that had ever been achieved is achieved by excellence and excellence comes through obsession, not discipline. And what is obsession if not love? Love is not timed, obsession is not timed. They are 24×7×365. So, the final question, have you ever loved, have you ever lived? Have you tried experiencing the stretch of your mind? If not, when do you plan to do that?

Just come out of this discipline and productivity trap and build a life that you love, that you are obsessed about.
